BLOOMINGTON, Ill.–Electrolux has announced that Rickard Hederstierna from the Lund Institute of Technology in Sweden is the global winner of the company’s Design Lab competition.
Hederstierna won for his Cocoon concept, a product that prepares genetically engineered and prepackaged meat and fish dishes. An Electrolux statement said Louis Filosa of Purdue University was the highest ranking American in the competition, finishing in third place for his Renew smart clothing steamer, which “blasts” clothes instantly clean.
The Design Lab competition is an annual Electrolux event. This year, the company celebrated its 90th anniversary by giving the competition a “designs for the next 90 years” theme.
