HIGH POINT, N.C.–The U.S. Senate has passed a resolution honoring the High Point Market on its 100th anniversary.
Introduced by the two North Carolina senators, Democrat Kay Hagan and Republican Richard Burr, the resolution reads, in part, “The High Point Market has gained a worldwide reputation as the premier place to experience the newest ideas in home furnishings.” Calling herself “an ardent proponent of the market,” Hagan said the market has grown in its 100 years into a 12 million-square-foot international trade show that welcomes 160,000 people from 110 countries each year.
In welcoming the resolution, Brian Casey, president of High Point Market Authority, said the market offers more new-product launches than any other home-furnishings trade show, and that it serves as “the intellectual and creative nerve center of the U.S. home-furnishings industry.”
