WASHINGTON–Twenty-six percent of owners of espresso-cappuccino makers, and 21 percent of single-serve coffeemaker owners have used their appliances more because of the U.S. economy, according to the findings of a survey by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers.
These were some of the results from the Portable Appliance Saturation and Usage Study, which was based on a sample of more than 2,500 U.S. households. Fifty-seven percent of the participants said they somewhat or strongly agree that they use their coffeemakers to save money over coffee-shop prices. In a statement about the survey, AHAM said owners of espresso-cappuccino makers may save up to $1,000 a year by brewing their coffee at home.
Also, more than 75 percent of the respondents said they had bought their espresso-cappuccino makers or single-serve coffeemakers within the past four years.
