BENTON HARBOR, Mich.–Chief Responsibility Officer magazine has included Whirlpool on its list of 100 best corporate citizens.
The appliances giant ranked 51st this year, the eighth year it has made this annual list. The publication cited Whirlpool’s track record as a corporate citizen, and mentioned its founding of the Green Touch Program, a trademarked campaign for the building community. Green Touch facilitates the design, building and marketing of sustainable homes by providing sustainable products, design tools and marketing assistance.
In a Whirlpool statement, the company noted that it manufactures Energy Star qualified appliances under its Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid and Amana brands. It also provides appliance packages that save water and energy, and promote healthy indoor air quality, the company said.
