CARTHAGE, Mo.–Leggett & Platt has created and filled new positions in its Consumer Products Group.
The company has appointed Bob O’Neill senior vice president of sales for the group’s Top of Bed Division, and O’Neill’s son, Rob, to vice president of product development and merchandising. Bob O’Neill’s responsibilities include the sales of mattress protectors, sheets, pillows and fashion ensembles, along with helping to identify new account opportunities for the company’s bedding-support and ornamental-bed categories. Rob O’Neill will be in charge of product selection and the introduction of the product categories mentioned above.
Also, Leggett & Platt has named Richard Downing, formerly president of its Top of Bed Division, senior vice president of sales for the Consumer Products Group. Downing will oversee sale of the top-of-the-bed categories, bedding-support and ornamental-bed products, with a focus on national accounts and developing new channels, such as furniture stores and e-commerce.
All three executives will report to Rob Woods, president of the Consumer Products Group, and the appointments will go into effect on July 21. Before taking these new posts, Bob and Rob O’Neill had been involved in the furniture-importing business.
