COPPELL, Texas–Craftmade International Inc.’s board of directors has appointed J. Marcus Scrudder, 40, to serve as the company’s chief executive officer, effective July 1.
Scrudder will maintain his roles as chief financial officer and corporate secretary of the company until the board of directors names successors. Scrudder succeeds James R. Ridings, who is retiring his post as CEO as of June 30. Ridings will continue in his role as chairman of the board of the ceiling fan, lighting and casual furniture company, and will also serve as a senior executive adviser to the board of directors and to the CEO for one year, beginning on July 1.
Scrudder joined Craftmade as chief financial officer in 2005, and is credited with assisting the company’s search for “strategic alternatives” and for his key role in the acquisition of the assets of casual furniture maker Woodard, LLC.
Prior to joining Craftmade, Scrudder served as an operations manager at Crown Equipment Corp. after it purchased the assets of Shannon Corp. in 2004, where he had served as chief financial officer and senior vice president since 1998.
Scrudder received his master’s degree from Southern Methodist University.
