MONROE, Mich.–La-Z-Boy announced today that it will lay off around 30 people, or 20 percent of its sales force, and will consolidate its remaining representatives in 46 territories in the United States and Canada.
In a statement, the iconic furniture company said the remaining salespeople will serve more as “a consultative field organization focused on retail performance.”
The layoffs and repositioning of its staff were made necessary, La-Z-Boy said, because of a “dramatic” change in furniture retailing during the past few years.
