Kenneth Salazar, former U.S. secretary of the interior, has been named to Target's board of directors, effective immediately.
Salazar served as secretary of the interior in President Barack Obama's first administration, taking office in January 2009 and leaving this past April. He recently joined the international law firm of WilmerHale, to open the firm's office in Denver. Before serving in the Obama cabinet, Salazar was U.S. senator from Colorado from 2005-2009, and prior to that, he was Colorado's state attorney general.
Gregg Steinhafel, Target's chairman, president and CEO, said, "As an experienced public policy official and a highly skilled lawyer, Ken brings a unique background and perspective to Target that will be invaluable as we continue to explore and seize new opportunities to drive profitable growth in this rapidly changing environment."
