NPD Reports Oneida Tops Consumer Flatware

ONEIDA, N.Y.–According to the NPD Group, Oneida placed first in flatware brands for the year ended March 31, with a market share of 26.6 percent. Its market share in flatware increased by 2.7 points during this period. Oneida also ranked as the number-one brand in fine flatware, with a 20.1 percent market share.
“Oneida’s flatware brands have consistently been top sellers, and we are pleased to see that they have extended their gains over the past year,” said Tim Shine, president of the consumer division. “Our innovative designs, high quality and range of choices for all occasions continues to draw an excellent consumer response.”
Oneida also increased its sales volume in the flatware category by 7.6 percent. In the casual flatware category, the company grew its market share by 4.7 percent to 31.1 percent, and its sales volume rose by 20.7 percent.
Oneida also had more patterns ranked in the top 10 by sales volume than any other brand. Its Michelangelo flatware pattern, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, topped the list in the fine flatware category.
