Menear Tabbed as Home Depot CEO
ATLANTA-Craig Menear, The Home Depot's president of U.S. retail, will become president and CEO of the home-improvement retailer on Nov. 1.
As CEO, Menear will succeed Frank Blake, who will remain chairman. He has also been elected to Home Depot's board, effective immediately.
Menear has been with Home Depot since 1997, and rose through the company's merchandising ranks. This past February, he was promoted to president of U.S. retail. Prior to his Home Depot career, he served in merchandising positions for Ikea, Builders Emporium, Grace Home Centers and Montgomery Ward.
"As a long-time Home Depot veteran, Craig lives our values and embodies our culture," Blake said. "He'll do an outstanding job leading our company in the years ahead."
Blake has been chairman and CEO since 2007. Prior to that, he was vice chairman and executive vice president of business development and corporate operations. Before joining Home Depot, he served in a number of executive positions with General Electric.
