  • Amazon Boosts Q1 Sales by 15.1 Percent

           Net sales for Amazon.com rose 15.1 percent to $22.7 billion for its first quarter ending on March 31, thanks to solid gains of 39.6 percent in net service sales and 8.8 percent in net product sales. The company posted a net loss of $57 million in the quarter, compared to net income of $108 million in its first quarter of last year. More

  • Ethan Allen Q3 Net Dives 51.8 Percent

           Third-quarter net income for Ethan Allen Interiors plummeted 51.8 percent to $2.5 million, in a quarter in which the company began the second phase of its product launches and continued its efforts to freshen up its design centers. Farooq Kathwari, chairman and CEO, said Ethan Allen has also been adding to its staff of retail managers and interior designers in North America. More

  • Aaron’s Q1 Net Soars by 28.4 Percent

    Aaron'sThanks to the inclusion of results from the Progressive Leasing business, Aaron’s posted a 28.4 percent gain in first-quarter net income, which totaled $49.2 million. The added numbers from Progressive, which Aaron’s acquired in April of last year, also boosted total revenues in the quarter, which ended on March 31. Total revenues finished at $821.8 million, up 40.4 percent. More

    Benjamin SchallBenjamin Schall, a veteran in the real estate field, has been appointed CEO of Seritage Growth Properties, the newly formed real estate investment trust (REIT) of Sears Holdings. Schall will assume his new post on May 4. Seritage was created to serve as the lease holder of 254 Sears Holdings properties, virtually all of which are Sears and Kmart stores. More
