LEXINGTON, Ky.–Tempur-Pedic has appointed Mark Sarvary as its president and chief executive officer.
Sarvary succeeds H. Thomas Bryant, who will retire effective Aug. 4. The two will work together between now and that date to ensure a smooth transition, according to a Tempur-Pedic statement.
Currently, Sarvary is an industrial partner with CVC Capital Partners, a global private-equity firm. From 2004 to 2007, when he joined CVC, Sarvary was president of Campbell Soup’s North America division, in which he was responsible for the Campbell Soup, Pepperidge Farm, Pace, Prego and V8 brands. From 2002 to 2004, Sarvary oversaw Campbell Soup’s Pepperidge Farm division.
Tempur-Pedic’s chairman, P. Andrews McLane, said Sarvary “has a track record of driving sales and earnings growth. He also understands the value of brands, the need to exceed customer and consumer expectations, and the importance of employee engagement to achieve superior business performance.”
The appointment fills one of the two key open positions among the top mattress manufacturers. Sealy, the number-one U.S. manufacturer, has yet to announce a successor for David McIlquham, who resigned as chairman, president and CEO in March.
