GREENSBORO, N.C.–Internet Retailer magazine has listed Replacements, Ltd. at number 166 on its annual Top 500 Guide for 2008, which ranks the United States’ largest e-tailers based on annual Web-driven sales.
This marks the second consecutive year Replacements, a leading supplier of old and new china, crystal, silver and collectibles, has appeared on the list, jumping eight positions from the previous year. The company is ranked 16th in the housewares/home furnishings category.
“Considering the economic climate of the past year, the fact we’ve seen an increase in online sales is a strong affirmation of our strategies,” said Bob Page, chairman and chief executive officer. “What differentiates our numbers from a lot of other companies is the fact we’re not selling mass merchandise, which has a high degree of repeat purchases. We’re really a niche within a niche, which makes our continued growth in this area even more incredible to us.”
Sales driven by the company’s Web site, replacements.com, accounted for nearly three quarters of the company’s $85 million in business last year, up 19 percent from 2007.
