NEW YORK–Jens Quistgaard, the first designer for Dansk, died at his home in Denmark last month. According to an obituary in the New York Times, Quistgaard’s death was not made public outside of Scandinavia until recently.
Quistgaard was not only for his craftsmanship but his beautiful yet functional products. After Ted Nierenberg, an American engineer, discovered Quistgaard’s work in Copenhagen in the early 1950s, he urged the industrial designer to work with him. That led to the creation of Dansk.
