PHILADELPHIA–Hollandia, the high-end mattress manufacturer and retailer, has introduced a system that provides a safe built inside mattresses.
Called the SAFE-T Bed, the system is featured on the company’s Executive Bed but can also be added to any Hollandia Platinum-Luxe trademarked advanced sleep system. It was first developed, according to a Hollandia statement, “for an international customer who wanted to keep a handgun safely stored, yet close to him in bed for security purposes.” Then the company realized that such a system could be used for multiple purposes, including the storage of valuables, and thus broaden the customer base for the product.
The safe, which measures 8 inches by 10.6 inches by 4.3 inches, is located at the head joint of the mattress base. Maya Ben, vice president of operations for Hollandia, said in the statement, “We made sure to position the safe within the bed base, under the mattress, so as to not change the feel of the bed when sleeping.”
The Executive SAFE-T Bed comes with a suggested retail price of $20,400. The retail price for adding the system to a Platinum-Luxe mattress is $399.
