LEXINGTON, Ky.–H. Thomas Bryant, president and chief executive officer of Tempur-Pedic, will retire from his posts at the middle of this year.
Tempur-Pedic’s board of directors has formed a committee to lead the search for his successor, and has retained an executive search firm.
The 60-year-old Bryant joined Tempur-Pedic, the nation’s fifth-largest manufacturer of mattresses, in July 2001 as executive vice president and president of the company’s North America operations. He became president in December 2004 and CEO and a member of the board of directors in April 2006. He will continue to serve as a director and plans to stand for re-election to the board this coming May, according to a Tempur-Pedic statement.
Between now and the date of his retirement, Bryant will work with the company to ensure an orderly transition to a new CEO. Before joining Tempur-Pedic, Bryant was president of Stairmaster Sports & Medical Products from 1998 to 2001.
