LANCASTER, Ohio–Anchor Hocking has made a companywide commitment to green initiatives and a plan to reduce its impact on the environment.
“We intend to lead by example, and we encourage other companies and our retail partners to realize that environmental issues are real, and that we need to be part of the solution,” said Mark Eichorn, president and chief executive officer of the 103-year-old glassware company.
Twenty-five percent of all glassware production will now be made from recycled glass. Other initiatives include new partnerships with packaging suppliers committed to recycling and the environment; a new design of the company’s packaging to reduce its environmental footprint; printing marketing materials and business cards on recycled paper stock; and converting to a “digital workplace,” reducing the amount of paper documents kept in office facilities.
As a sign of its commitment, the company has changed its logo and rolled out a new corporate theme, “Raise a Glass to Planet Earth.”
The program was introduced at the International Home & Housewares Show earlier this week.
