NEW YORK-The 2013 Harris Poll EquiTrend Rankings have emerged with “Brands of the Year” in a number of housewares, retail and home-related categories.
In home products, Crock Pot took the top spot among small kitchen appliances, ahead of KitchenAid, Cuisinart, Black & Decker, Calphalon and GE. In coffeemakers, the number one brand was Keurig, topping Mr. Coffee, Bosch, De’Longhi, Cuisinart and Krups. The top mattress brand this year was Tempur-Pedic, ahead of Sealy and Serta.
In the retail categories, Target topped Walmart as Brand of the Year among mass merchants, while in department stores, number one was Kohl’s, over Macy’s and J.C. Penney. Saks finished first ahead of Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s in luxury department stores. Costco beat out Sam’s Club in the warehouse-club category.
In off-price retailers, the number one brand was Marshalls over Ross Stores and T.J. Maxx. Dollar Tree finished ahead of Dollar General in as value store Brand of the Year.
For each year’s EquiTrend Rankings, Harris Interactive queries consumers about brands among multiple categories, based on their familiarity with the brands, their quality perception and purchase consideration.
