ATLANTA--Simmons has named Mark Baron executive vice president of operations.
Reporting directly to Gary Fazio, the mattress manufacturer's chief executive officer, Baron is in charge of manufacturing, technical services and supply-chain operations through the company's 20 manufacturing facilities. In announcing the appointment, Fazio cited Baron's experience in lean manufacturing, which "will help us to sharpen our focus on operations excellence and serve our retailers and customers in the best way possible."
This position, which was once held by Robert Burch, had been vacant since Burch left the company in March 2009 to become president and CEO of Berkline/Benchcraft Holdings.
Before joining Simmons, Baron was senior vice president of Hill-Rom Corp., a manufacturer and provider of medical technologies. His career also includes executive positions with Lockheed Martin and General Electric.
