SHELTON, Conn.–Latex International has broken ground for a plant in Malaysia, which will support the growth of its sleep products in Asia and Europe.

According to a company statement, the factory will measure 251,000 square feet and will trade under the name Dunlop Latex Foam (Malaysia), a Latex International subsidiary. Located in the Mukum Senai-Kulai, Daerah Johor Bahru region, the plant is slated to begin manufacturing products made of talalay and Dunlop-process latex next year.

Kevin Coleman, president and chief executive officer of Latex International, said the plant should eventually be able to produce more than 200,000 mattress cores and 500,000 pillows. Coleman added that the plant is part of the company’s effort at building a worldwide infrastructure to support its international growth.
