ATLANTA–Whirlpool is joining forces with Habitat for Humanity for its fourth annual Whirlpool Building Blocks program, which will construct homes for eight families in this area.
The appliances giant will work with Habitat for Humanity International, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity and about 250 volunteers across the country to help these families build their homes in five days, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4. Whirlpool created the Building Blocks program to help raise awareness for the need for more affordable housing, and to help Habitat for Humanity in the organization’s effort to eliminate substandard housing throughout the nation.
This year, the construction will take place in the Avery neighborhood, a new housing development in the southern part of Atlanta. In the three previous years, Building Blocks has taken place in Nashville, Tenn., Phoenix and Dallas.
