BENTON HARBOR, Mich.–Whirlpool has introduced a new countertop microwave oven geared specifically toward smaller kitchens, particularly those in multifamily and hospitality units.

The compact microwave has a rounded design in the back, allowing it to fit in countertop and furniture corners. Yet it also has the capacity for large dinner plates, according to a company statement. It is also designed with an integrated handle and console, a blue LED display and Tap Touch controls that are easy to clean.

“While occupying only a half cubit foot of space, (the product’s) clever design allows for an 11-inch dinner plate, thanks to a glass turntable larger than those in most standard microwaves,” said Terri Connett, Whirlpool’s senior manager of contract marketing and design.
