CLEVELAND-Vitamix has pledged to donate blenders to the first 50 chefs who commit to host awareness events on nutrition and help for children, in connection with Childhood Nutrition Day, Oct. 16.
Chefs are being encouraged to hold these events throughout October by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation’s Chef & Child Foundation. Vitamix said in a statement that the chefs can use the blenders during their activities, which could range from cooking classes to demonstrations and hands-on smoothie making. The blenders will be available to the first 50 chefs who sign up to do events on the American Culinary Federation website.
The Chef & Child Foundation was formed in 1989 to promote awareness of proper nutrition among preschool and elementary-school children, and to combat childhood obesity. Ira Fingerman, chair of the foundation, said, “Many of our chefs are passionate about helping children learn how to please their palates and nourish their bodies at the same time, and the chance to own a Vitamix machines gives them one more great reason to get involved.”
