BUSAN, Korea–Thermolon Ltd., the company that manufactures non-stick coatings without the chemical PTFE, has announced it has merged with Korean company Shinwoo Trading Co. Both companies will go under the umbrella of Thermolon, a statement said, and be based here, where it will continue to expand its research and development facility. Its commercial and financial offices will be based in Hong Kong.
Christopher Phillips, Thermolon’s chief executive officer, will be CEO of the new company, and CK Park will become president.
Thermolon’s coating was launched in the United States last summer, used on GreenPan cookware.
Shinwoo has been “committed to the development and research of environmentally friendly, PTFE-free and high-temperature-resistant coatings” for many years, the statement said. “By bringing both companies together under one umbrella, we are truly convinced that the value created is significant for all partners with whom we have worked in both companies to date.”
