AIRPORT CITY, Israel-SodaStream International has been designated one of the World's 50 Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company magazine.
The magazine placed SodaStream number 23 on the list. It noted that SodaStream carbonated-beverage makers are now sold in 45 countries through 60,000 retailers.
Among the innovations cited by Fast Company are SodaStream's partnerships with companies such as Kraft, which increase the flavor options it can offer; its single-serve Sodacaps, disposable caps with measured flavor portions similar to the K-Cups offered by Keurig for coffee and other hot beverages; its new Source line of beverage makers, designed by Yves Behar, founder of Fuseproject; and its lines of stripped-down and high-technology models, which have opened the company to mass retailers such as Walmart and Williams-Sonoma.
Acknowledging the honor from Fast Company, Daniel Birnbaum, SodaStream's CEO, said, "We empower consumers around the world to change the way they consume carbonated beverages, offering a more convenient, better-for-you, eco-friendly alternative to 'Big Soda' and the disposable plastic they create."
