STOCKHOLM–The Electrolux Design Lab 2011 competition was won by Adrian Mankovecky of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava in Slovakia, for his portable spot cleaner.
The portable spot cleaner has two components, which the user separates and places on either side of a garment before choosing the suitable cleaning program. Powered with a sugar crystal battery, it uses negative ions and steam to refresh clothing and remove stains.
The product was selected from a field of 1,300 entries from more than 50 countries. The jury which selected the winner described the portable spot cleaner as “an instant laundry device that has a positive impact on the environment by reducing consumption. Its usage and interaction are very intuitive.”
