The ongoing popularity of Apple Computer’s various i-products has kept the field open for products that serve as accessories to iPhones, iPods and iPads. Vendors continue to extend the market for such items as radios and speakers that enable the playing of high-quality music through new technologies that use any one of these devices.

Innovation in consumer electronics isn’t limited to products that make use of Apple’s popular handheld devices. The process of cleaning and cooking has been made easier and more effective with the recent debuts of merchandise that use enhanced technology.—David Gill

Providing what SDi said is “size-defying sound,” the iHM60 Neon Series Rechargeable Mini Speaker connects to a computer or other USB power source by way of the included USB cable, which recharges its internal lithium ion battery. Its vacuum base design provides surprising volume and bass response in a speaker that fits in a person’s palm. The iHM60 is adaptable to laptops, cell phones, the iPhone, the iPod and other MP3 players. The PAL BT, which has been one of the company’s most popular portable radios, is now available with Bluetooth wireless technology. This new version is an answer to the question, “How can we play music on our phones (or iPads, or PCs or Macs) with no wires, no dock and no Wi-Fi connection?” The Bluetooth-enabled PAL BT instantly connects with almost any smart phone or tablet or laptop, allowing music to be played in less than 10 seconds. It also comes with a built-in rechargeable battery which is good for up to 15 hours of unplugged music at a time, a frequency contouring circuit for musically accurate tonal balance, a telescoping FM antenna, a built-in AM antenna, AC adapter and a stereo mini-cable. tivoliaudio.com

Ecovacs Robotics

The response to those who say, “I don’t do windows” is the Winbot 7 Series, described by manufacturer Ecovacs Robotics as the world’s first window-cleaning robot. The user switches it on and places it on a window, and the Winbot automatically cleans the window. Its sensor technology detects the cleaning surface and moves the robot in a zigzag pattern, covering all of the window’s surface. It is designed with suction cups that keep it on the window, and can also be used for glass shower doors. The Winbot made its first appearance at this January’s International CES trade show, and was presented at the International Home + Housewares Show, where it won an IHA Innovation Award in the category of Household Electrics + Home Environment. ecovacs.com
