OSAKA, Japan–Panasonic and UNESCO World Heritage Centre have formed a strategic partnership to promote sustainable development through World Heritage conservation and environmental education.
Under this agreement, Panasonic will launch communication and educational activities that promote the conservation of World Heritage sites, and raise awareness of the 40th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention next year. Among the activities are Panasonic’s sole sponsorship of “The World Heritage Special,” which will be aired on the National Geographic Channel in 183 countries and regions, and educational efforts geared toward children that will involve the provision of Panasonic three-dimensional audio and visual equipment and technical support.
The alliance is part of Panasonic’s initiative to elevate environmental protection in its corporate culture. By 2018, the company said in a statement, its goal is to be the “number one green-innovation company in the electronics industry.”
