Ogden Publications Acquires Housewares Company

TOPEKA, Kan.--Ogden Publications, the company that publishes the magazines Mother Earth News, Utne Reader and Natural Home, among others, has acquired Cataluna Enterprises, the company that launched Ogden's Natural Home line of sustainable kitchenware.
Cataluna will be renamed Natural Home Products LLC and will continue to use Ogden's brands to develop products for sale in retail stores and other markets. Natural Home Products currently sells kitchenware made from bamboo, recycled stainless steel, organic cotton and recycled glass in Target and Meijer stores nationwide.
"Our publications provide readers with the knowledge they need to live inspired sustainable lifestyles. Our new Natural Home Products enterprise will allow us to explore conscientious sources for everyday products and to provide consumers with new products manufactured in ways that protect the environment and the workers who create them around the world," said Bryan Welch, publisher and editorial director for Ogden Publications.
Natural Home Products LLC will be based in Ogden's headquarters here in Kansas, with offices in Bentonville, Ark., and San Ramon, Calif. Andrew Perkins has been promoted to director of merchandising and events and will oversee product development, merchandising and marketing for the subsidiary. Bill Mitchell, founder of Cataluna Enterprises, has joined Ogden and continues in his role running Natural Home Products.
