NEW YORK-Nespresso has launched the Nespresso U coffeemaker, featuring a sleek, U-shaped modern design.
The U includes a water tank that can rotate 180 degrees around the machine; preset espresso, lungo and ristretto buttons; and an automatic capsule release after brewer. Frederic Levy, president of Nespresso USA, described the machine as “a great companion to the Aeroccino Plus that allows users to prepare milk recipes just like a skilled barista, however compact the space.”
The U can be personalized with dedicated accessories such as magnetic trays that house capsules and coffee stirrers. These trays attach directly to the sides of the U, allowing users to adapt the U’s shape to fit their kitchen and living space.
As part of the U’s launch this month, Padma Lakshmi, host of “Top Chef,” will join Nespresso to encourage consumers to enjoy a moment with the U, such as reading a book with a cup of coffee. Throughout this month, Nespresso is also inviting users to share their “U moments” through the company’s Twitter page, @NespressoUSA, along with the #UMoment hash tag. Nespresso will randomly reward two winners each Tuesday with an unspecified surprise, and will bring the Nespresso Pop-Up Cafe to New York City and Los Angeles for personal demonstrations.
