ANN ARBOR, Mich.-NSF International has certified the Mr. Coffee Coffee Maker from Jarden Consumer Solutions to a new protocol developed by NSF for the safety and quality of home coffeemakers.

NSF is an independent global organization that writes standards and tests and certifies products for the consumer-goods, food and water industries. The Mr. Coffee Coffee Maker is the first product in the coffee maker category to earn this certification, which was developed as part of the new NSF Home Product Certification Program.

An NSF statement said the protocol, titled “Coffee Makers for Home Use,” was a joint effort between the organization’s regulatory and public health experts and retailers, manufacturers and outside regulatory experts. It includes testing of performance, material safety, packaging and labeling, and conformance to all U.S., Canadian and European Union product regulations and retailer requirements.
