AT THE HOUSEWARES SHOW–Lifetime Brands has launched EcoWorld here at the International Home & Housewares Show. Comprising kitchen tools and gadgets, cookware, cutlery and other categories, EcoWorld offers retailers—and ultimately, consumers—earth-friendly products for the home.
The company showcased the new collection under its Pedrini brand at the show, but “it will go beyond Pedrini in the future,” said Bill Lazaroff, company executive. Products included “nanodized” cookware, which is comparable to anodized cookware but without “using all of the chemicals of traditional anodization,” he said. Nanodized cookware is also dishwasher-safe, which is unusual for anodized cookware, he added.
The line will also include a bioplastic line that is made of a material free of fossil fuel polymers, he added, and which is replaced with a plant-based one instead. Gadgets, cutlery, cutting boards and other kitchenware products will either have product handles or be entirely made of this material, which is biodegradable. Lazaroff also said the material is 30 percent stronger than polypropylene.
Lifetime also showed its ceramic non-stick coating under this line, which is produced with more than 90 percent natural ingredients and without petroleum or harmful solvents, the company said.
