Just when you think you’ve seen it all, a creative vendor in the next booth at the Housewares Show offers something completely different. This year’s cookware and bakeware offerings extend the categories beyond imagination.
Adagio Teas
The Concert Teapot fuses beauty and function in an easy-to-use teapot. A stainless-steel infuser produces delicious tea with clarity and flavor. The body is made of sturdy tempered glass, and rests on a wooden stand. A candle below enhances the presentation, as well as keeps it warm. It’s also dishwasher-safe.
All-Clad
All-Clad’s black hard-anodized collection is now available in a dishwasher-safe version called LTD2. With a patented five-ply aluminum and stainless-steel construction—two more layers than All-Clad’s original LTD collection—the new line includes a dishwasher-safe, hard-anodized aluminum exterior.
In All-Clad’s stainless-steel line, a 3-quart saute pan has been added, and can be used on the stove as well as in the oven. In addition, a stainless 6-quart French brasier, which allows meat to be browned on the stovetop and then baked in the oven, will be shown. The brasier has a flared rim for easy pouring and two loop handles.
In addition, the company will feature its gourmet ovenware line. Made in the United States with All-Clad’s signature tri-ply construction, the bakeware has a layer of aluminum sandwiched between the 18/10 stainless-steel interior and exterior. The group includes a loaf pan, a jelly roll pan and a 13-inch pizza pan.
Arceau Marketing
The Appolia line will add new, innovative ceramic grilling and stewing cookware in its Terre et Flamme (earth and flame) series. The Soft Grill allows for a juicier and more tender grilling of meat, fish and vegetables by lifting up the brochettes above the grill, and two handles allow the Soft Grill to be carried to the table as well. The Ceramic Plancha is ideal for char-grilling meat, fish, vegetables and fruit, with little or no fat. It can even be used as a griddle on the stove where it covers two burners, and works on all heat sources except induction. Terre et Flamme also adds a Tajine and French Cocotte, for stovetop-to-table usage, and with updated features like non-stick surfaces and wide round corners for easy scooping.
Bodum
The new Bodum Bean is a French press coffeemaker with a patented locking lid system that offers a heat seal and a precision pour spout. By pressing the lever with the thumb while pouring, the user controls the liquid’s flow, and when the lever releases, the spout closes, eliminating the exposure to outside air. In a 32-ounce capacity, the Bean comes in red, pink, purple, green, brown, gray, black and white. The company will also be introducing the Nero coffee and tea coat, to keep coffee and tea hot in Bodum’s coffee and tea presses. The coffee coat comes in two sizes to accommodate the 32- and 48-ounce coffee presses, and the tea coat comes in 34- and 51-ounce sizes for the tea presses.
BonJour
BonJour enters the bakeware category with two collections: a non-stick bakeware group and a commercial non-stick bakeware group. The non-stick bakeware features a fleur de lys pattern with the BonJour logo and is constructed from heavy gauge carbon steel. Oven-safe to 500 degrees, the line is offered in nine open stock items. Ideal for avid bakers, the commercial bakeware line is constructed of heavy-gauge aluminized steel with wire-reinforced rims for additional strength and durability.
Chicago Metallic
The company will introduce three Savory additions at the show. The Meatball Baker incorporates a special three-deep well rack to hold meatballs in place while baking, so there’s no messy frying. All the fat drains into the baker, so meatballs are healthier. It can hold small, medium or extra large meatballs, as well as kabobs and appetizers such as stuffed mushrooms. The roasting pan can be used alone for other roasting needs.
The new Fusion Roaster evenly cooks from the inside out, making the poultry moist and tender inside, with a perfectly browned crispier outside. Vegetables may be placed in the base of the Fusion Roaster to cook with the poultry and where the flavors meld perfectly to create convenient and delicious one-dish meals, or roasted on their own. The Lasagna Trio is a pan divided into three completely separate channels, each the length and width of a lasagna noodle, to make lasagna-building virtually effortless. The home chef can bake one to three individual lasagnas, whether they are with or without cheese, meat or vegetables simultaneously.
CIA
Food enthusiasts who want instant gratification when setting up a new kitchen or overhauling an old one will find shopping easy with the Instant Gourmet Kitchen Sets. This year the CIA Masters Collection adds the 35-Piece Chef’s Favorites Set, which includes a 10-inch sauté pan; 1- and 2-quart sauciers with cover; a 3-quart sautoir with cover; an 8-quart stock pot with cover; and other cookware, gadgets and cutlery items.
Demeyere
Demeyere, a 100-year-old brand, will highlight its newest line, John Pawson for Demeyere. Pawson, an architect, brought a modern sensibility to the line, and the stockpots, sauce pots and saucepans feature Demeyere’s InductoSeal bases, a proprietary layering of metals consisting of TriplInduc, a patented combination of three different aluminum alloys, and topped with a 2-millimeter copper disk sandwiched between layers of pure silver. These six layers are then fused to 18/10 stainless-steel walls. The conical sauce and frying pans feature 7-Ply Material, its construction method that includes TriplInduc, two layers of pure aluminum, a layer of aluminum alloy and 18/10 stainless steel. The silvery white finish of the line is due to Silvinox, an electrochemical process that creates a permanent finish.
Emile Henry
Emile Henry presents a Flame-Top roaster, stewpots and a brazier in Azure, a rich Mediterranean blue that complements the Emile Henry Flame-Top Figue color. Flame-Top cookware is made of a flame-proof ceramic and is designed to go directly on a heat source—a gas flame, an electric or halogen stove, even a barbecue grill.
Emile Henry brings back an old favorite—a covered casserole—in its new Fait Tout, which translates to “does everything” in French. This round, 3-quart covered casserole can be used for any one-pot oven-cooked meals or casseroles, and is available in the colors Azure, Citron, Blanc, Vert and Cerise. The company will also add a Flame-Top Tarte Tatin baking dish that lets a cook prepare the tarte, start to finish, with only one pan. It is microwave- and dishwasher-safe so a tarte can be warmed up in the microwave as well as the oven. The durable glaze means a cook can cut directly in the Tarte Tatin dish without fear of scratching, chipping or cracking the surface. It’s also available with a cover. In addition, a new urban bistro styled pitcher with simple geometric lines is made from all natural Burgundy clay and is designed for both hot and cold beverages.
Fagor
Focusing on its core business of pressure cookers, Fagor America will expand its assortment at the show to include alternative raw materials besides 18/10 stainless steel. The new aluminum version, for example, will retail at about half of the 18/10 stainless-steel version. An added benefit is that pressure cookers reduce both energy and time for consumers, as does its induction products, such as its portable burners.
Due to the growing popularity of pressure cookers and canning, the company will introduce its nine-piece home canning set, which includes a 10-quart Duo pressure cooker/canner, a full-color cookbook and more. In addition, an induction chafing entertainment set will debut, which uses induction as the heating element rather than an open flame. The stainless-steel chafing set will include a main entree tray, an alternative divided tray for serving two dishes at once, a lid and outer pan clad with an induction compatible base that can be used for dual purposes.
Fissler
A flat-bottomed wok has been added to the best-selling Original Pro Collection line of cookware. The 13.8-inch wok, like all pieces in the Original Pro Collection, is made from heavy-gauge, 18/10 stainless steel complete with a brushed finish, which provides the ultimate resistance to water spots, staining and scratching. This wok is also equipped with Fissler’s exclusive Novogrill frying surface, which allows for food to be fried, grilled or seared using less oil than traditionally required, and also reduces food adherence.
Foldtuk
With its “fold and tuck” technology, Foldtuk’s Roaster is able to expand to approximately 9 inches for cooking, yet is capable of collapsing down to only about 3 inches in height to be stored easily. Able to fit an 18-pound poultry or a 20-pound roast, the roaster can withstand conventional oven temperatures up to 500 degrees. The roaster pan is constructed of food-grade silicone reinforced by a stainless-steel bottom and a stunning high-polished stainless-steel top rim flange.
Gibson
Gibson will introduce its Sunbeam collection, including such materials as non-stick aluminum, stainless-steel, pre-seasoned cast iron and traditional non-stick bakeware. Featuring the brand’s renowned red and gold colors, the Sunbeam line is available in open stock or in sets. They feature soft-touch handles; tempered glass lids; and, in the cutlery sets, Santoku knives.
The company will also debut its Oster collection of cookware, and which is made with heavy-gauge stainless-steel, impact-bonded bases, forged construction and heat-resistant silicone handles.
Gibson is also introducing its line of Mr. Coffee-branded items, including a coffee press.
GreenPan
Now 2 years old, eco-friendly cookware company Green Pan will also launch its new top-end line Dubai. The Dubai range will be coated with the Thermolon Endurance coating and will be offered in a number of items, as well as a 10-piece set. One of its new features will be the ability to interchange the handles between the pans. Thermolon’s new Rocks non-stick coating will be used to coat GreenPan’s two new professional ranges: the Rotterdam and the Copenhagen lines.
Harold Import Co.
With chef Helen Chen, Harold Import expands its Helen’s Asian Kitchen line with Asian clay cookware. A traditional way to cook in China, the clay cookware can be put directly on electric and gas burners, and it doesn’t absorb flavors or smells. The line will include a 2.5-quart casserole and a teakettle.
IMUSA
The company will expand its cookware for the Hispanic market with products that fall into Basic, Premier and Gourmet lines. New cookware includes such products as comals in materials other than cast iron, such as cast aluminum. Other products have high-end touches such as a new tamale steamer with a glass lid so the cook can see how the food is cooking, and silicone handles.
Kuhn Rikon
The Easy-Pour Kettle has a spout that automatically opens when the handle is lifted. Engineered for safety, the handle keeps the hand away from the hot steam, and the heavy metal base heats up quickly. Working on all cooktops, including induction, the kettle has a 2.2-quart capacity.
Laarsen Associates
Handmade by artisans, who use no glaze or varnish, the Pomaireware clay products line adds several new pieces. A fondue pot can be used in the traditional method on the table or slow cook foods such as cheese on the stove and then used to serve. Due to customer requests, the company has added a 1-quart pot in addition to its 3- and 6-quart sizes. Its three-legged pig faced salsa dish will now be joined by a fish-faced salsa dish. In addition, a pig-faced garlic holder has joined the line as well. All products are lead-free, oven-safe up to 450 degrees, electric cooktop-safe with a diffuser and microwave-safe.
Le Creuset
The company expands its fry pans and skillets line with a new shape, a 2.5-quart shallow casserole/braiser. With a triple-coated reinforced non-stick coating that is dishwasher-- and metal utensil-safe, the braiser also has hollow, cast stainless-steel handles that will stay cool while cooking on the stovetop. Induction compatible, the pan is oven-safe to 500 degrees and the tempered glass lid is oven-safe to 325 degrees.
Its tagine has been redesigned, and has a decreased overall size. The vitreous enameled cast-iron base creates an even distribution of heat and the tight-fitting stoneware lid keeps moisture inside. With a 2-quart capacity, the tagine is available in cobalt, cherry, dune, dijon and kiwi. The newly improved giant reversible grill/griddle porcelain enameled cast-iron grill now features a 50-percent larger grease capacity and larger handles for easier gripping.
The company also expands its widely popular stoneware baking line with fun new shapes and sizes. Whether baking a flan, quiche, pie, appetizer, entree or dessert, Le Creuset’s new tart dishes include the 9.5-inch tart dish and the 4.25-inch petite tart dish. Le Creuset’s stoneware can be safely cut on with a knife and is dishwasher- and microwave-safe. They are available in white, cobalt, cherry and kiwi.
