ROSEMONT, Ill.–Six chefs who have won the James Beard Award will prepare specialties for attendees at the 14th annual Housewares Charity Foundation gala on March 7 at the Hilton Hotel in Chicago.
The chefs are Tony Mantuano of Spiaggia, Shawn McClain of Green Zebra, Arun Sampanthavivat of Arun’s Thai Restaurant, Marcus Samuelson of Red Rooster Harlem, and Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris of Prairie Fire. The event will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the Housewares Charity Foundation’s legacy charity, and the Texas Tech University Breast Care Center and Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. The gala is held each year in conjunction with the International Home + Housewares Show.
Barbara Turf, chief executive officer and president of Crate and Barrel, will receive the Lifetime Humanitarian Award at the gala. Jerry Rubin, chairman, CEO and president of Helen of Troy, will be honored with the Humanitarian of the Year Award.
