IHA Names “Design Defined” Winners from Housewares Show

       

       

ROSEMONT, Ill.–The International Housewares Association has announced the honorees of its sixth annual “Design Defined” program, which cited innovative products for cleaning and organizing the home.

The winners are:

•Fertile Earth for the Simple Garden
•Full Circle for the Come Clean Natural Cleaning Set, the Crystal Clear Glass Cleaner and the Reach Bottle Brush
•Home Products International-North America for the Hamper Basket and its Ironing Board
•Ice Tubes/Koopeh Designs for the Garlic Peel
•Jokari/U.S. for the Healthy Steps product line and Label Once
•LC Industries for the Bioserve
•The NCC for the Powerhorse
•Neat-Oh! International for the Zipbin Doll House Playpack
•The Original California Car Duster for The Original California Dry Blade
•Play S.A. for the go two
•Rubbermaid for its Carafe
•Rubbo International for the Q Knot
•Simplehuman for the Horizontal Tension Caddy and the Compost Pail
•Under the Roof Decorating for the Hang and Level and the Stoppy

The honored products were chosen by Design Finders, a team of designers and educators from the University of Illinois-Chicago’s Interdisciplinary Product Development Program. The team evaluated each product according to innovation, esthetics, how the product helps the user, whether or not the product is environmentally responsible and the impact of the product on the market.
