Housewares, Tabletop Good Design Winners Announced

       

       

 

CHICAGO–Several housewares and tabletop companies have been awarded the renowned Good Design Award for 2011.

 

The award, bestowed by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, honors worldwide design innovation, vision, sustainability, and the competitive design edge. “Good Design is referred as the ‘Oscars’ of industrial design,” said Christian K. Narkiewicz-Laine, president of The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and chief curator of the Good Design program.

 

Housewares winners include Bodum, for its Hot Pot pie and lasagna dishes, Pavina salad bowls, paper roll holder, silicon strainer, cone and barbecue charcoal grills, table grill, lighter and bread basket; Vinturi, Inc. for its Travel Wine Aerator; Tupperware Brands Corporation for its Noodle Carrier and Chef Series Compact Cookware; Electrolux for its Nimble Upright Vacuum; Design Partners for Terraillon for its My Cook Kitchen Scale; Alessandro Mendini for Alessi for its Moka Alessi Espresso Coffeemaker; Pensi Design Studio for Castey Global for its Artic stainless steel cookware collection; Zoku for its Quick Pop Maker, Duo Quick Pop Maker and Character Kit; Mobius Design for SodaStream for its Fizz machine; Ding 3000 for Normann-Copenhagen for its Rainbow Trivet; 3M Company for its Filtrete water pitcher and water station; Continuum for Bunn Corporation for its Bunn Phase Brew HI; Mastrad for its rice and grain cooker with spoon and its TopChips; Les Ateliers du Nord for Nestle Nespresso for its Nespresso Pixie; Humanscale for its Personal Zone Air Purifier; GreenPan for its non-stick hot pot set; Miele & Cie KG for its CM5 tabletop coffee system; Teams Design for Jarden Consumer Solutions for its Mr. Coffee Optimal Brew thermal coffeemaker; Teams Design for Smith’s for its Edgeware Mandoline Elite; Rosle for its fine grater and cherry/plum pitter; and Tools Design for Eva Denmark for the Eva Solo AquaStar watering can, XO saute pan, frying pan and pot, orchard pot, My Tea Teapot and Tea Bag.

 

Tabletop winners include Steve Cozzolino for Nambe for his Cradle serving bowl; Atelier Vittorio Passaro for Rosenthal for his Papyrus dinnerware; ASA Selection for its Cucina Insalata; Marcel Wanders Studio for Alessi for its Dressed Tabletop Collection; Atelier Manfredi for Alessi for its Blossom fruit bowl; Paul Thonis for Lenox for his Dansk Classic Fjord teapot and accessories; and Riedel for its Mamba decanter.
