ROSEMONT, Ill.-The Housewares Export Council, a special-interest group of members of the International Housewares Association which sell their products internationally, has changed its name to the International Business Council (IBC).
The new name, which coincided with the start of IHA’s 2015 membership year on April 1, better reflects the global activities of the association’s international programs and services, along with opening the group to global members, according to an IHA statement. Also, the separate IBC membership dues have been eliminated. IBC membership is open to all regular IHA members when they complete a questionnaire about the council’s services, benefits and members’ exporting activities, the statement said.
IBC began as the Housewares Export Council of North America in 1995. It provides help to members in marketing and selling their products throughout the world by sharing information, providing networking opportunities and offering programs to assist, support and educate.
Among IBC’s services are:
•The IBC Global Forum, an annual meeting with retailer presentations from markets around the world, and sessions on export topics and information on market entry, global product development and marketing strategies
•Export trade missions to key global markets
•Pavilions at international trade shows
•Resources to help members better market themselves to international buyers at the International Home + Housewares Show, including sponsorship of the Monday night reception
•International retailer and distributors reports offering details and contact information for global retailers
•“Export Explorer,” a blog with international news about the home and housewares industry, and exporting companies
