NEW YORK-Two longtime industry veterans—Allison Zisko, HFN’s managing editor/tabletop editor, and A.J. Riedel, of Riedel Marketing Group—are slated to present a seminar at the International Home + Housewares Show in March 2013. Called “The Six Consumer Trends That Will Be Impacting Your Business in 2013 And Beyond,” it will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from 9:30-10:20 a.m. in the Innovation Theater in the Lakeside Center.
The seminar is one of 22 educational programs scheduled for the Innovation Theater, located in Room E350, during the show. The programs will begin every hour starting the morning of Saturday, March 2, and run through Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the length of the Housewares Show.
“This topic is important for show attendees because, without keeping their fingers on the pulse of consumer trends, they run the risk of following in the footsteps of the buggy whip manufacturer—they could become hopelessly outmoded if trends change and consumers no longer need their products,” Riedel told the International Housewares Association.
The balance between offering on-trend products that also have staying power is a challenging one for manufacturers, Zisko added. “Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between passing fads and soon-to-be staples….Consumers have so much to choose from in the vast housewares category. What they need most is accurate, reliable information on what products are the best in terms of quality and which ones will best suit their needs.”
