Full Circle
With names like Flip, Squeeze and In the Buff, the sustainable products in the Full Circle line have a fun attitude as they help with household cleaning. Made of bamboo, loofah, cellulose and a proprietary plant-based plastic called Bonterra, the line includes brushes with replaceable, biodegradable heads, and fully bio-based and biodegradable sponges and towels. Products include Grip, pictured, a scrub brush that uses a natural, replaceable loofah to clean. The Laid Back dish sponge uses a replaceable cellulose sponge, a stylish bamboo handle and a Bonterra brush block. Flip has tough, natural loofah on one side and a soft cellulose sponge on the other. “Bonterra, bamboo and other sustainable materials have limitations, too, but it’s crucial we choose the material that’s best for the job, and be honest with our customers about our choices,” said Heather Tomasetti, co-founder and marketing director. “There is no point in making something green that just doesn’t compare in form and function to its non-green counterpart.” fullcirclehome.com
Roland Products
Distributed by Roland Products, Goodbye Detergent! is a line of environmentally friendly scrubbers for the kitchen and outdoors. Made with recycled corn cobs, peach pits, and walnut shells—all of which have natural abrasives—the scrubbers allow people to clean with less or no detergent at all.
The Original Spaghetti scrubs feature corn cobs and peach pits, and are available in course or gentle surfaces. Lasting for months, their unique shape makes them pliable for tricky cleaning jobs. Kitchen cleaning pads come in a heavy duty version, as well as ones for stainless steel (and made partially of recycled plastic), enamel (made partially of pumice stone) and anodized aluminum (made partially of walnut shell). The outdoor scouring pad comes in soft, hard and heavy-duty versions. The packaging is made of 100 percent recycled materials.
Goodbye Detergent! will be exhibiting at the Gourmet Housewares Show next to Fissler USA, which is another division of Roland. goodbyedetergent.com
William Bounds
William Bounds’ new Sharp Shooter allows gravity to do the work in the kitchen or at the table. With one-handed Gravity-Sense operation, this mill begins the grinding process when it’s tilted. When inverted, the battery-operated mechanism takes over, and can be used for either pepper or salt. When finished, the mill can simply be turned upright to stop grinding.
Featuring a professional-quality, durable ceramic milling mechanism that never rusts or wears out, the grinder can be adjusted from fine to coarse grinds. It has a sleek, curved body with a clear window that shows the peppercorns or sea salt inside. Soft-grip ergonomic housing ensures easy handling.
Available in either black or red, it has a suggested retail price of $30. wmboundsltd.com
Frieling USA
The company will turn the spotlight on its trademarked MILK2froth countertop refrigerator during the Gourmet Housewares Show. According to a Frieling statement, milk for cappuccinos and lattes froths better if it’s cold, so the MILK2froth is designed to keep milk fresh and at just the right temperature, near 37 degrees Fahrenheit.
The MILK2froth connects to any espresso machine that has a frothing nozzle and milk adaptor, regardless of the machine’s brand, the company said. It comes with a refillable, dishwasher-safe container that can store up to 1 1/2 quarters of milk. This container is angled to access the milk to the last drop, ensuring that no milk is wasted. The unit also comes with flexible tubing that reaches from the espresso machine’s cappuccino attachment to the bottom of the container.
The new product is also free of chlorofluorocarbons and is energy-efficient, running on about 50 watts of electricity, or less than a standard light bulb. frieling.com
