Even in a down market people still need their coffee.
Gibson is expecting home coffee consumption to increase significantly in the coming months, and is rolling out a line of Mr. Coffee-branded coffee items through a new licensing partnership with Jarden, designed to enhance the at-home coffee brewing experience.
“It’s about showing consumers that coffee is still a luxury, and they don’t have to give up on it,” said Kimberly Griffin, director of marketing for Gibson.
The line, debuting at the International Home & Housewares Show in Chicago this week, includes items like coffee presses, latte cups, coffee glasses, milk frothers and more. It will target all retail channels, with a focus on mass merchants, supermarkets and drug stores, where the brand is already a presence on store shelves, according to a Gibson spokesman.
In addition to the Mr. Coffee launch, at the housewares show Gibson is rolling out an extensive line of cookware, cutlery and bakeware under the Sunbeam and Oster brands, the result of an earlier licensing agreement with Jarden. — Allison Zisko
