COMMERCE, Calif.–Reactive glaze as a fashion-forward finishing technique has caught on in the pet bowl category, according to Gibson Overseas, which says its new line of reactive glaze pet bowls are proving surprisingly popular and outselling less expensive melamine assortments. The bowls range in price from $2.99 to $9.99 and are sold at supermarkets, drug stores, regional pet stores and one mass merchant.
“Dog and cat owners feel their pets are special,” Connie Bowman, vice president of product development, said. “That’s why the reactive glazing technique is appealing. Each piece is unique. Just like no two dogs are exactly alike, the reactive bowls all have subtle differences.”
