CHICAGO–Gibson Overseas is teaming up with lifestyle designer Trish Richman to offer a new line of tabletop, gifts and mugs that it will launch at the International Home + Housewares Show here later this week.
Under the brand Trish Richman by Gibson, the new product line will embody Richman’s design philosophy of happy informality. The collection, according to Richman, features “great, useful things that have color, personality and should be layered with lots of white basics to keep things bright and simple.”
Richman, who trained as a painter, owned the popular store Home in Charleston, S.C. There she designed home goods for sale in both her store and nationwide. “I hope that when people see my designs they will immediately think of them as gifts for a sister, a favorite friend, a special teacher and as a treat for themselves,” she said.
Gibson will also introduce a new hydration line at the show under a new brand called iGeneration, through a license agreement with Pop Culture Records. Positioned to appeal to Millennials and Generation X, the initial line of ceramic mugs and double-walled tumblers—which will expand into additional product categories later this year—bears the brand’s signature self expressions like “iRock, uRoll.”
