GE’s New Website Reveals Benefits of Induction Cooking

LOUISVILLE, Ky.–Consumers looking for information and answers about induction cooking can now visit GE’s new educational website, induction101.com. Coinciding with the company’s increased focus on energy-efficient solutions, the site offers visitors easy-to-navigate educational resources and interactive tools to explore its product line. The site’s name comes from the fact that induction cooktops can boil a quart of water in approximately 101 seconds while remaining comfortably cool to the touch.

“Our goal is to provide educational resources that help consumers better understand how induction and convection technologies work and compare to other cooking methods,” says Mike Nerdig, GE cooking products marketing manager. “Professional chefs know the benefits, but a lack of widespread information tailored specifically for home cooks has made it more difficult for them to weigh their options and choose the best solutions for their lifestyle.”

Induction cooking is considered to be the most energy-efficient cooktop technology available today, and GE testing shows that about 84 percent of the energy produced by its induction elements goes directly to cooking, as compared to approximately 38 percent for gas and 73 percent for electric. The new website includes videos and slideshows on induction technology; product features, controls and design options from GE’s line; as well as cooking tips and other practical user information.
