HOUSTON–Epilady USA has entered a license agreement with Sharper Image, while it also prepares to debut its hair-care products category in this country.
Under the terms of the license agreement, Epilady will produce and market a collection of Sharper Image-branded hair-removal products. The first products are scheduled for launch in spring of next year. According to Amir Abileah, Epilady’s vice president, the Sharper Image line will be priced at the upper end of the scale, and will be geared toward department stores, specialty stores, online retailers, high-end catalogs and television shopping channels.
The hair-care line, which has been sold under Epilady’s brand in Europe and South America, will consist of hair dryers and straighteners, again targeted at upscale consumers and salons. Abileah said the retail targets for this grouping will be the company’s current customers in hair removal. “A shift in our global corporate strategy is moving us from hair removal to anything that has to do with hair, whether it be removal or styling,” he said.
