CHICAGO–DKB, a division of Swiss-based Diethelm Keller Brands, came to the International Home & Housewares Show with a line of kitchen tools from British chef Jamie Oliver. With the launch of its Jamie Oliver Flavour Shaker and Jamie Oliver kitchen tools and gadgets products under the DKB banner planned for the fall, “we’re growing beyond Zyliss,” said Sanjay Choudhuri, chief executive officer, referring to the brand it is known for in the U.S. and the company’s name until January 2008.
“Before there were bits and pieces [under the Jamie Oliver name] from different companies, but now it will become more cohesive,” Choudhuri said.
The initial product, the Flavour Shaker, is a mobile form of pestle and mortar. It has an encapsulated ceramic ball that can crush, mix and blend spices, olive oil and other ingredients to form a nice paste or marinade, Choudhuri said.
Other new products from DKB include a pie/cake server that has a release system to help push the pie piece onto the plate, and a slicer that uses serrated blades instead of wire to cut through eggs, tomatoes and mozzarella. In its Cole & Mason brand, a professional nutmeg grater has a shoot holding several nutmegs so that after one nutmeg is grated, another one is delivered immediately.
The company also continued its focus on healthy eating, and two new salad spinners debuted at market.
