NEW YORK–Conair debuted its line of fabric steamers at an event held in Vanderbilt Hall of Grand Central Station here yesterday.
Called the Conair Steaming Suite, the event included a demonstration of the Deluxe Fabric Steamer, along with an invitation to commuters to get garments steamed and have a massage and an espresso. The line offers three models: the Deluxe Fabric Steamer, priced at $99.99; the Compact Fabric Steamer at $34.99; and the Handheld Steamer at $19.99.
Conair is positioning the Fabric Steamer grouping as a means of saving money on dry cleaning by caring for garments at home. In a company statement, Kevin Morton, marketing director, said consumers spend $8 billion a year on dry cleaning and that dry-cleaning costs have risen drastically, increasing consumer interest in home dry-cleaning solutions.
