CDN's DiGruccio to Advise Foodservice Non-Profit
PORTLAND, Ore.-Shawn DiGruccio, vice president of CDN, has joined the advisory council of Catalyst Kitchens, a collaborative network of non-profit organizations that assists the homeless and individuals in need with training and finding employment in the foodservice industry.
Catalyst Kitchens is a national initiative of FareStart, a Seattle-based nonprofit social entrepreneurial organization with a mission to end homelessness. Over the next five years, Catalyst Kitchens has aggressive plans to expand by leveraging the experiences of model programs, allowing it to enroll 6,000 chefs-in-training annually and to serve 10 million meals to the needy.
CDN has been a donor to Catalyst Kitchens for two years, providing thousands of cooking thermometers for Catalyst Kitchens' foodservice training program. As a member of the advisory council, DiGruccio will be working toward teaming up with other foodservice and retail companies to grow sponsorship opportunities.
"Catalyst Kitchens has a strong track record of success. CDN is proud to be a donor, and I wanted to get more involved by joining the advisory council. It's great to give someone a meal, but it's even better to give someone the training they need to earn a living over a lifetime in the growing foodservice sector," DiGruccio said.
