GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment program has awarded Bissell “Champion” status in the agency’s Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative.
This initiative recognizes companies that voluntarily commit to the use of safer detergent products, and “Champion” is the highest level of recognition it awards, according to a statement from Bissell. The company said it has invested heavily in research, development and formulation of its floor-cleaning chemicals, and has developed and uses new chemicals and biodegradable detergents that still offer both cleaning and protection to consumers.
“Bissell continues to strive to make all of our products a little greener,” said Jim Krzeminski, executive vice president of product development, sales and marketing. The company adopted the EPA’s Design for the Environment standards early in the program, Krzeminski said.
