NEW YORK–WestPoint Home has reached an agreement for a strategic partnership with Edison Nation, a development company for new products, to create what a WestPoint statement termed “innovative products.”
The agreement gives WestPoint exclusive rights to be the first to review and consider intellectual property, product concepts and inventions for home-fashion products submitted through Edison Nation. The latter company, which was founded by the creators of the PBS show “Everyday Edisons,” takes ideas for products or intellectual property from individuals and connects them with manufacturers or retailers that can help them commercialize these concepts. Developing innovative textiles products is one of the key goals for WestPoint, John Piazza, president and chief executive officer, told HFN.
WestPoint is currently hosting the first of many “live product searches” through Edison Nation’s Innovation Station. The company has posted a challenge to individuals to submit an innovative and “green” textiles concept to meet the demands of the market.
