Surtex Conference Program to Advise Designers on Business

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.–The 2010 edition of Surtex is planning a conference series on the essentials of managing a design business in the current economic environment.
Titled “The New Reality of Art Licensing and Sales: Strategies for Business Prosperity in a Tough Economy,” the conference program will encompass 11 sessions and is scheduled from Sunday, May 16, to Tuesday, May 18. Included in the program are two sessions on the basics of art licensing, two legal workshops, a session on survival tactics and growth strategies, one on finding and working with manufacturers that license art, one on how retailers make product decisions, one on the Internet and social networking media, and a series of trend forecasts.
Warren Shoulberg, editor and associate publisher of HFN, will participate in the session “Leveraging the Economy to Enhance Your Business,” along with Janine Finkle, vice president of Market Intelligence/Design Research Reports.
